VANESSA BROOKS – CONSTABLE, PRECINCT 4
The Kaufman County Commissioners have appointed Vanessa Brooks to serve the unexpired term as Precinct 4 Constable making her the first female Constable for Kaufman County.
“Vanessa Brooks, Chief Deputy Constable for Kaufman County Precinct 4, has been leading the Constable duties since the untimely passing of Constable Chad Jones in June 2019,” read a press release from the county.
Constable Brooks has been in law enforcement for 18 years and with Kaufman County Precinct 4 Constable’s office since 2006. She announced her candidacy for the office and is running unopposed in the upcoming March primary.
RHITT JACKSON – JUSTICE OF THE PEACE, PRECINCT 3
Rhitt Jackson was sworn in as Kaufman County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3 on January 28, 2020. He replaces Justice of the Peace Mike Smith who resigned effective January 3, 2020 to become full-time municipal court judge in Terrell.
Mr. Jackson has over 35 yrs of law enforcement experience having served with the Terrell Police Department for 30 years. He has spent the last six years as Account Manager for Southern Software, a public safety software provider.

Rhitt currently serves on the Terrell Civil Service Board and previously with numerous civil organizations including Police Association of Terrell, Kaufman County Leadership and Terrell Lions Club.
He has a AAS degree from Navarro Junior College and studied Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University. He holds a Master Peace Officer license, Peace Officer Instructor license and a Field Training Office license.
Rhitt is a 23 year resident of Terrell and has two grown daughters.
