Kaufman County Republican Party Executive Committee Meeting (RESCHEDULED)

NOTE: Due to our original date conflicting with President Trumps State of the Union address, we have RESCHEDULED our meeting to Thursday, Jan 31st. The time will remain the same.

Kaufman County Republican Party will hold its first Executive Committee Meeting of 2019 at a new location.

It will be begin at 7pm in the meeting room of Kaufman County Library, 3790 S Houston St , Kaufman Texas 75142

Our guest speaker will be Justice David Schenck.

Justice Schenck was appointed to the Court by Governor Perry and took the oath on January 16, 2015. He comes to the Court after nearly a quarter century in private practice and prior government service. His law practice concentrated on complex civil, criminal, and family law litigation, typically in the appellate and pre-appellate context in courts throughout Texas and the United States. He led the Dallas Issues and Appeals Practice of Jones Day and, more recently, the national Specialized Litigation, Advanced Motion Practice of Dykema Gossett.

He also served as Deputy Attorney General for Legal Counsel from 2010 to 2012. In that capacity, Justice Schenck functioned as Chief Legal Counsel to then Attorney General Greg Abbott, having direct responsibility over six divisions of that office: Opinions, Public Finance, Open Records, Grants Administration, General Counsel, and Legal, Technical Support. He also led the team defending the Legislature’s plans redistricting the State’s House, Senate and Congressional delegations. He is Board Certified in Civil Appellate law. While in private practice he received the highest possible “AV” rating by Martindale Hubbell and was repeatedly selected for inclusion in the Texas Monthly’s “Superlawyers” and D Magazine’s best lawyers surveys. He has also received the Texas Bar’s highest honor – the President’s Award – for his pro bono work promoting access to legal services for the poor. Justice Schenck has previously served on the adjunct staff of the Southern Methodist University School of Law. Beginning in the Fall of 2015, he will teach Texas civil procedure at University of North Texas College of Law.

Justice Schenck graduated from Baylor Law School in 1992 as valedictorian and having served as editor-in-chief of the law review. Following his graduation he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Henry A. Politz, Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit. He is married with two children.
