Texas Republican Party Chairman James Dickey’s Monthly Update – April, 2019

Dear Fellow Texas Republicans,

During the month of April, we welcomed important guests back to Texas – President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, and Republican National Committee Vice-Chairman Tommy Hicks. We are always happy to have them here – especially as both the Chair and Vice-Chair are native Texans! Additionally their visits to Texas make clear the importance the campaign and national party place on our great state as we prepare for the 2020 election. In Texas we know an important fact – as goes Texas, so goes the nation.

Without Texas’ 38 electoral votes, there is no path to Republican victory in the White House – even with wins in every other state won by President Trump in 2016. That is why we launched our national victory effort, WhiteHouseVictory.com. This endeavor will expand our fundraising targets nationally and allow us to bring money back to Texas to help us defend this most important stronghold in the country.

We are working hard for our Republican leaders who have delivered unprecedented prosperity and a booming economy for all. WhiteHouseVictory.com brings us one step closer to delivering a Republican victory in 2020!

In early April we held the highest grossing Spring Dinner since the event was restarted! We had Republican leaders like Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Dan Patrick, Speaker of the House Dennis Bonnen, and nearly every other Republican statewide, State Senator, and State House member. It was great for Republican leadership to come together to support the Party, especially in the middle of a busy Legislative Session. A special thank you to our Finance Director Marissa Vredeveld for her hard work in making this dinner a tremendous success!

During President Trump’s visit to Texas, he stopped in Crosby, a small town in Harris County. While in Crosby, he signed two executive orders – one which would change the rules on how liquefied natural gas can be shipped and another which would take power to approve cross-border energy pipelines from the Secretary of State and give it to the President.

A week after the President’s visit to Texas, the Vice President came to Texas to speak at a Trump Victory luncheon. Many of our strongest Dallas area supporters attended to show their support for both the President and the Vice President. Texas’ own and RNC Vice Chairman Tommy Hicks was there as well.

We were fortunate to have Senator Ted Cruz headline a fundraiser for the Republican Party of Texas in Dallas. While it was a tremendous success, it was bittersweet because it was the day we heard of the passing of Dallas County Republican Party Chairwoman Missy Shorey. Thank you to Senator Ted Cruz for joining us for this event and joining us in remembering a special member of our Republican family. We look forward to having similar events with great Texas Republican officials throughout the 2020 cycle.

Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel made a trip to Texas to join the Texas Federation of Republican Women during their Legislative Day Luncheon. This was a great chance to meet supporters from all over the state of Texas and to reiterate the importance of winning our state in 2020. We look forward to helping grow TFRW moving forward and to keeping them involved and a crucial part of our re-election efforts!

During April, I was fortunate to travel across Texas to visit with Republicans throughout the state. I joined the Kingwood Tea Party, the Galveston County Republican Party Lincoln Reagan Day Dinner, the Young Republicans Dinner, the Freedom Rally in Corpus Christi, the Lake Travis Republican Club, the Gillespie County Republican Club, and the El Paso Republican Party Lincoln Reagan Dinner, to name a few. I will continue to travel around the state to meet Republicans new and old and to remind them of the importance of getting involved in order to win in 2020!

As you know, the 86th Legislative Session is in full swing. I’ve represented the Party and spoke on or dropped cards on numerous topics. I’ve also met with numerous state legislators – Senator Hall, Senator Seliger, Representative Lang, Representative Sheffield, Representative Tinderholt, Representative Ashby, Representative Krause, Representative Smith, and Representative Stucky. The overall goal is to accomplish our Legislative Priorities and to ensure our Legislators can attain major policy victories for the people of Texas. We will then take those victories across the state in 2020 to help our legislators win!
